Meet Recap

The Lady Raiders finished third in the inaugural running of the Greater Cleveland Conference Championships. The toughest conference in Ohio featured four teams ranked in the top 20 in the state, and another two that have earned votes this season. Mimi Reimers missed her chance to rewrite the record books for the second week in a row, finishing a second off her best. There were numerous personal records set as Tessa Shlonsky and Sophie Matts dropped their best times in the varsity race. In the open race, freshmen Oriana Anderson, Hannah Braun, Mika Reffner, and Sydney Blaszak all set new p.r.’s, running varsity level times in their first season. The girls will compete in the Willoughby South District race next Saturday as heavy favorites to move on to Regionals.

Meet Recap

The weather was beautiful, the course was flat, the competition was fierce, and the personal records fell today as the Lady Raiders stormed to a third place finish at the Legends Invitational in Cortland. Despite sitting three of their top 8 runners, the girls finished a narrow 5 points behind state ranked Brunswick, and ahead of state ranked Solon in their final tune up before the conference championship next week. Both Mimi Reimers and Sophie Carrier shattered Katelyn Walker’s school record, with times of 18:38 and 18:48 respectively. There was no shortage of heroes though, as Alexa Jankowsky, Ally Nordstrom, Sophie Matts, Marisa Hofstetter, Mika Refiner, and Sydney Blaszak all ran their best times to pick up the missing runners. Runners of the Meet for this week were Maggie Spielman, Isabel Fedewa, and Nicole Pollack.
