Raider wrestlers Sam Meinhard and Jaivon Jones took different roads but both advanced to Day 2 of the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State University.
Jones, wrestling at 126 lbs, opened with a tough loss to Jimmy Carmany (Brecksville). The loss sent him to the Consolation Round 1 where he bounced back to defeat Rocco Torio (Olentangy Orange) and will look to continue on in Consolation Round 2 on Saturday.
Meinhard, wrestling at 220 lbs., opened his tournament run with an upset win (5-4) over Derrick Bowman (Lancaster). He advances to today’s Championship Quarterfinals to face Cameron Sauerwein (Harrison).
Good luck Sam & Jaivon!
