The Raiders defeated the Warrensville Heights Tigers 89-60 Saturday night in their season opener in the Great Lakes Classic Tournament.
Kevin Bishop lead all scorers with 26 points and 10 rebounds. He also collected 2 blocks and a steal to cap off a dominant night for the big man.
Coach Young emphasized defense in the pre-game talk, and more specifically
deflections. The Raiders as a team had 20 deflections and 19 steals on the night.
Leading the way were Seniors Dale Bonner getting 7 steals, and Christian Guess with 5 steals. Bonner, Bishop, and Guess combined for 67 points in the scoring barrage for the Raiders. Senior Najee Hardaway chipped in a solid night with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sophomore Dakota Cochran also helped out with 8 points and 2 steals.
Junior Brandon Rush played with great confidence and led the Tigers in scoring with 16 points. Junior Deytin Giddens put up 11 points, and Freshman Ramelle Arnold added 9 points to round out the majority of the scoring for the Tigers.
The Raiders will open up conference play next week as they take on the Brunswick Blue
Devils in their home opener. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m..
