The Shaker Heights Raiders were coming off a week where the OHSAA acknowledged game officials at Strongsville misapplied an unsportsmanlike penalty that took a victory away from them and were facing the #13 ranked Solon Comets on Senior Day. So what did the Raiders do? They proceeded to grind out an impressive 14-7 victory to give Shaker Heights their first win over the Comets in 13 tries and in the process knocked the Comets out of contention for post-season play.
While the OHSAA was levying sanctions against last week’s officiating crew and explaining that OHSAA Bylaws prevent any officials’ calls from being reversed or appealed, the Raiders focused on their preparation during the week to play one of their strongest games of the year to pull off one of their biggest wins in years.
Jamir Dismukes tossed 2nd half TD passes to Wil Greer (Fowler PAT) and the game-winner to Courtney Phillips (Fowler PAT), but the heroes of the the game were the Shaker defenders who put the wraps on the high-scoring Comets to seal the win for the Raiders.
