The Shaker football team took on the Mentor Cardinals and definitely left an impression with the GCC power even though the Cards came away with a 45-27 win.
The Raiders jumped out to an early 14-3 lead on the strength of two Jamir Dismukes TD passes, one to Billy Dunn Jr. and the other to Micah Hills. Carson Fowler converted both PAT’s.
The Cardinals countered with a pair of TD’s of their own to take a 17-14 lead but the Raiders responded with a Dismukes to Will Greer 61-yard TD bomb to retake the lead at 20-17. Mentor added a touchdown late in the half to head into the locker room with a 24-20 lead.
The Cardinals flexed their muscle in the 2nd half outscoring the scrappy Raiders 21-7 for the final margin of victory.
The Raiders will look to rebound Friday night when they travel to Strongsville to take on the Mustangs in another tough GCC matchup.
