Meet Recap

The Shaker Lady Harriers showed off their depth on Saturday, placing both second and seventh in the field of 23 teams at the Legends Invitational in Trumbull County. Both teams beat the full varsity squads of perennial powers Solon, Chardon and Twinsburg. Leading the way for the A team were Sophie Carrier, who finished third, and Alexa Jankowsky, who finished 7th. Freshmen Avery Blazak and Andrea Harrison were close behind, as was fellow 9th grader Esti Goldstein, who made her bid for the postseason lineup by finishing fourth overall for Shaker on the day. The open race also saw its share of impressive performances as both Tessa Shlonsky and Juliet Tonkin finished in the top 6 overall. Today’s race marked the seventh straight this season where Shaker secured a top three finish. They will head to the conference championship next week seeking Shaker’s first league title in what has become the toughest cross country league in Ohio. Go Raiders!
