Meet Recap

The 24 best teams in Northeast Ohio converged on Boardman High School Saturday to battle through the rain, cold and mud and earn a berth to the state cross country championships. When everything was settled, the Shaker Raider girls squad finished in third place, earning its third consecutive trip to the state meet. Seniors Sophie Carrier and Alexa Jankowsky both qualified as individuals, with Jankowsky setting a new personal record of 18:31, making her the third fastest girl in school history. Carrier finished a strong third place overall, with a course p.r. of 18:22. Freshman Avery Blaszak overcame a crowded start to move up steadily through the crowd and finish in 36th place, while classmate Andrea Harris broke 20 minutes for the first time, having her best performance of the season when it mattered most. Also setting a lifetime p.r. was Orianna Anderson, who came in at 20:19. Charlotte Lo and Hailey Stupay secured the win and the trip to Columbus. Great job ladies!!
