Meet Recap

With the departure of a number of longtime varsity standouts from last year’s state qualifying squad, the Shaker girls’ cross country team opened up their season at Berkshire today with new faces filling out the lineup. Freshman Avery Blazak and junior Hailey Stupay were making their high school varsity debut, and came up big, finishing third and fourth on the team to help the Raiders to a first place finish in the 26 team field. Led by All-Ohio senior captain Sophie Carrier’s second place finish and fellow captain Alexa Jankowsky’s third place performance, the ladies were never really threatened by runner-up Magnificat. Junior Charlotte Lo rounded out the scoring. Worth noting was the open race, which was dominated by a sea of red, including second and third place freshman finishers Andrea Harrison and Esti Goldstein! Runners of the meet were Lo, Esme Alexander-Jaffe, and Isabel Fedewa!
