Meet Recap

The Shaker girls’ cross country team remain unbeaten through week two after winning their third consecutive Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational. The Lady Raiders defeated runner-up St. Vincent-St. Mary, the third ranked division two team in the state. Leading the way was senior Sophie Carrier, who narrowly missed breaking Olympian Emily Infeld’s course record while defending her title. She was followed by third place Alexa Jankowsky, and Avery Blaszak, Hailey Stupay, and Charlotte Lo who finished in 13th, 15th, and 18th place, respectively. Andrea Harrison and Esti Goldstein also had personal bests to complete the varsity performance. The open race was a comedy of red, as 8 of the top 9 and 12 of the top 16 runners were all from Shaker. They were led by runner of the meet Orianna Anderson, who took first place overall as the ladies swept both races. Other runners of the meet for the week included Theodora Bowne and Mika Reffner.
