Field hockey wins State semifinal in OT; face T. Worthington in State Final

The Shaker field hockey team  (15-4-0) defeated Powell Olentangy Liberty (14-4-1) 2-1 (OT) in a 2016 OHSAA field hockey state semifinal game at Upper Arlington High School on Friday afternoon.
 
Freshman  Lora Clarke, broke the ice with a goal that put the Red Raiders up 1-0 with 11:00 left in the first period.  Olentangy Liberty would answer with 5:17 remaining in the first period to make it 1-1 at the half.
 
After a scoreless second half, Lora Clarke scored the game-winning goal halfway through the first sudden-victory overtime period and after multiple game-saving saves by senior goalie Kandyce Graham, to give Shaker Heights a 2-1 victory and a berth in the state final.
 
Shaker will play Thomas Worthington (17-3-0) in the state championship game on Saturday, 1 p.m. at Upper Arlington High School.
