Meet Recap

The Shaker Girls’ cross country team has lived to fight another day as they finished a strong third at the Medina “meat grinder” district this past weekend. In a very similar result from last week, the girls finished on the heels of champion Brunswick and runner-up Medina, only four points out of first place. Avenging earlier season losses was the one/two punch of junior Sophie Carrier and senior Mimi Reimers, who finished first and second overall for the third consecutive district race. Also qualifying as an individual was junior Alexa Jankowsky. Sophomore Sydney Blaszak and senior Elise LaFramboise rounded out the scoring. The ladies will head to Boardman next Saturday for the regional meet and a chance to qualify for the state championship for the second consecutive season. Go Raiders!
