Meet Recap

The young Shaker boys’ cross country team faced off against the toughest conference in Ohio yesterday and came away with a sixth place finish. All five of the top runners were under classmen, as they were paced by sophomore Fenner Dreyfus-Wells in a season best 17:30. Zak Reape, Matt Burnard, and Vivek Divakarla also broke the vaunted 18 minute barrier with impressive performances in a field that included many of the top ranked teams in the state as well as the ninth ranked team in the country. Finishing off their careers in impressive fashion were Ryan Duffett, who showed grit in scoring sixth for the team, and Daniel Heard, who ran the second best race of his life. They will be missed! Duffett’s performance earned him Runner of the Meet honors. The team begins their postseason with the regional meet at Medina next Saturday.
