Meet Recap

The Boys’ cross country team traveled to Tiffin for the largest cross country meet in Ohio this past weekend. Facing a field with seven of the top 20 teams in Ohio, including four of the top five, the young Shaker squad ran a number of p.r.’s, but struggles as a team, coming in 31st place out of 36 teams. As the only team with five underclassmen scoring, the boys saw their first dip into the 17’s, as 10th graders Zak Reape, Jake Lehner, and Matt Burnard all broke the 18 minute barrier. They were followed by classmates Fenner Dreyfus-Wells and Emet Celeste-Cohen. The fast improving harriers will work to drop more time next week at the Boardman Spartan Invitational. Runners of the meet were Reape, fellow sophomore Ike Moore with a big p.r., and freshman Bennet Smith, who broke 20 minutes in only the third race of his life, clocking a 19:59.
