Both Shaker state qualifiers fared well on Day 1 of the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships Thursday at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State University.

Junior Tyson Long (120#) rebounded from an opening match loss to win his consolation round match vs. Chase Craft of Clayton Northmont, 10-7.  Tyson (40-8) now awaits his next opponent in the consolation bracket 2nd round matches which are scheduled to begin around 1:40pm today.

Freshman Farouq Muhammed (145#) got off to a great start with a 9-8 victory over Cornell Beachem of Cincinnati Winton Woods in an opening round match.  Farouq (39-4) advances to face Antwon Pugh (33-2) from Copley in the quarterfinals championship round slated to begin at 11:20am.

Good luck to our Raider wrestlers!!
