The Shaker boys basketball team represented the state of Ohio and most importantly the city of Shaker Heights well with a 2nd-place finish at the Nature Coast Christmas Tournament in Brooksville, Florida December 28th-30th.

The Raiders opened play on Monday with a 54-46 victory over East Bay HS (FL).  That victory advanced Shaker into a semifinal match-up against Toledo Bowsher HS on Tuesday with the Raiders prevailing 59-49.

The Raiders faced defending Nature Coast Tournament champions and #2 state-ranked  Lakeland HS (FL) in the championship contest on Wednesday evening.  Lakeland reached the championship by knocking off fellow GCC rival, Medina HS in the other semifinal contest 70-54.

The young Raider squad more than held their own against a talented Lakeland team and held a nine point lead after three quarters.  Lakeland fought back to send the game into overtime and pulled away for an 84-75 victory.

The Raiders will return home from their successful holiday trip to host two conference contests next week vs. Euclid on Tuesday, January 5th and Medina on Friday, January 8th.
